By Car
Auckland can be a difficult place to get around, whether you are driving or intend to use public transport. In the centre of the region where the Hauraki Gulf and the Waitamata Harbour meet, all roads converge here meaning that it can be very congested at peak times - and at other times too! Make sure you have a good map with you as road signs are not always that good and are sometimes non-existant, especially out in the country. Never be afraid to ask for directions as Kiwi's are very friendly and always want to help out.

By Ferry
This can be one of the easiest ways to get into Auckland from the outlying areas, and a far more pleasant way to get around. You also get to see the area from a different perspective and arrive feeling refreshed instead of stressed!

By Rail
Rail routes are few and far between in New Zealand, though it can still be easier than getting around by car if the traffic is likely to be busy. Check the timetables as out of peak hours they are not so regular.
