DATE: 09 - 13 The Royal Easter Show brings town and country together and has been doing for more than 160 years, there’s fun for whole family at this year’s Royal Easter Show, on at the ASB Showgrounds in Epsom, Auckland. NZ's largest and most varied festival, the Royal Easter Show brings town and country together with loads of new shows and acts, the circus, carnival, street entertainers, A&P competitions, lumberjacks, shearing, art and loads more. New this year, the Incredible International Magic Show and New Zealand’s very own musical supergroup for kids the Funky Monkeys feature on the main stage, and in the Big Top, there’s the ZM Circus Extreme.

DATE: 01 - 03 Auckland Art Fair 09 is New Zealand's premier contemporary arts event, featuring the best art from Australia and New Zealand and a public challenge to 'get your head around art' at Auckland's Viaduct Harbour. With 40 select exhibitions by New Zealand and Australia's leading galleries and top artists. Building on the success of its previous two events, the biennial fair brings together under one roof, the leading edge of contemporary art from New Zealand and Australia, "showing the most exciting, contentious and forward thinking figures in the art world today," says Art Fair director Jennifer Buckley.

DATE: 29 May - 21 June Cats is the one show that brings all of the facets of musical theatre together at the Civic Theatre in Auckland, so completely and produces an experience that stays with you forever; Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats. June 2009, the Civic Theatre, Auckland will transform into a magical world of lushly orchestrated music, gasp-inducing dance, songs that draw excited laughter one moment, and soaring wonder the next. It's a show that barely needs an introduction. Since Cats first opened on the West End stage in 1981, it has become one of the world's best known and best loved musicals.

DATE: 25 Jul - 09 Aug Andew Lloyd Webbers Starlight Express is coming to Auckland's Vector Arena. Starlight Express played in London's West End for 18 years, is in its 21st year in Germany, and has been seen by almost 20 million people worldwide. This new Arena version, with additional new songs, and state-of-the-art technology, and specialist stunt skaters performing "extreme sports" elements is going to be a major event in New Zealand. Known as "the fastest show on Earth", British reviewers are unanimous in their praise.
